Everyone seemed to appreciate the enrichment links I shared the other day, so I thought I’d start the year off by sharing a few more resources on enrichment! Enrichment is increasingly acknowledged as being crucially important for your dog’s, and other animals, mental and physical well-being. Have you ever watched the enrichment activities that the Calgary Zoo does with their animals, like Tiger training!?
Want to learn more about canine enrichment? Here are some great resources to get you started:
Shay Kelly is a canine-enrichment master, and has lots of great resources in different formats, including a blog, a book called Canine Enrichment: The Book Your Dog Needs You to Read and a Facebook page called Canine Enrichment.
The Calgary Humane Society is always a great resource, check out their website for Kong Recipe Ideas and Information or Exercise for Dogs
You can also look at enrolling in training classes to keep your dog’s brain busy! There are lots of classes outside of obedience training – including agility, rally obedience, scent work and trick training! Check our trainers that utilize positive reinforcement like The Calgary Humane Society, Kayenna Training Academy, Dogma Training, or Hyper Hounds.
